The Mi’Kmaq Women Equine Retreat empower women using Equine Assisted Therapy techniques. Aims to teach women how to better communicate, self-identify, relax and improve self-confidence while embracing their culture. Equine Assisted Therapy, also known as Horse Therapy is used to address anxiety, depression, stress, relationship issues, and communication issues.
Participants descried the experience as spiritual, educational, empowering and engaging. Participants found that having a retreat away from their busy lives gave them time to reflect and enjoy natural. Most participants had little to no experience on horseback riding, the mixed aged group gave younger participants the chance to see the wisdom for their elders and elders were given a chance to feel younger again and to share their wisdom.
